Major Sweeps

PGA Championship Sweep Update Day 1

Scores are subject to checking in the morning as the final scores didn’t come through until gone 1.30am. We’ll also check the payments tomorrow so if you haven’t transferred over the funds yet, please do so asap to save us work chasing people.

A further seven teams were added to the published starting list, so we’ve ended up with 247 teams. We are always fine to receive late entries from the regulars – we all lead busy lives and it’s easy to forget about these Major Sweeps. It is easier for the US based majors as we have the Thursday morning to tidy things up. No entries are allowed after the first tee off time, so it means for The Open in July we’ll set an earlier closing time on the Wednesday evening. For this USPGA sweep it does mean team details for the extra seven teams are not shown but if anyone does want them, please let me know. The additional £175 has been allocated into the main prizes creating a nice round £2,000 (from £1,900) to the winner and we’ve increased 3rd to £650 (from £600) and the remaining £25 has been allocated to 5th. The revised main prize amounts are:

1st £2,000
2nd £1,000
3rd £650
4th £400
5th £305

Schauffele continued his recent good form and shot a 9 under round 1 score – impressive. He was selected by only 20 teams but he’s not a great finisher so it could end up being a tough watch for his supporters. I had a look at who were the 20 teams selecting Xander and saw that JK had doubled up on him placing him in both of his teams- he didn’t share that belief in him with his fellow sweep organiser. Mike Hill also doubled up on him – well done (so far) to all the others who have included him who are too numerous to mention. Mcilroy is also off to a good start at 5 under. Of the later starters Hubbard shot the lowest round with 6 under and he was only selected by 2 teams, Tom Kim and Detry matched Mcilroy’s score, and they were are low frequency sweep picks at 2 and 4 respectively, Scheffer looks ominous at 4 under. They are forecasting overnight rain and for tomorrow, so we’ll see what that does to the scoring which was very good today.

A sweep leaderboard is shown at the completion of round 1 and the early pace setters are Greg Josling and the Mark and Al team 1 – I think this latter combination picked up a sweep win at the last year’s US Open Sweep so maybe that’s the answer to getting results from the sweep. There are some familiar names towards the top but there are also a few people who enter regularly and haven’t collected anything in the past. One of the interesting dynamics of the sweep is about hoping your golfers make the cut (no one has won a sweep having had a casualty after Round 2 – yes a few have got into the prize frame but haven’t collected the big prize on offer) and watching the later starters battle it out to make the cut is great viewing for a Friday night, although I’m sure some of our younger participants can think of better things to do on a Friday night:-).

Remember the consolation events kick in after tomorrow and there will be prizes available for the weekend performance of your team based on which missed cut category you end up in. The only exception is for any team who has no golfers playing at the weekend and all you get for this will be a mention in the write up, some flack from your colleagues and added to a small elite list of others who have managed this previously …they know who they are.

Regards
Ian

PGA Championship Sweep 2024- Entries

Sweep Initial Entries

The total number of entries is 240 at the time of publishing the files. Entries for the PGA Sweep are always the lowest out of the four Majors most likely due to the standing of this major combined with when it is being held. We’ve continued to have email problems despite some changes made by Jason in the approach so we’re still scratching our heads over these – as you will have seen from the initial communication the website was almost ready to be used to collect entries but in the end we decided to hold fire until more testing is complete – we may trial something for an event ahead of the next major – more on that to follow.

The information in the file attachments shows three things. The first table in the file titled ‘USPGA 2024 Entries-1’ is the most important and shows an alphabetical list of the team names along with your team number – if your name doesn’t appear on the list then it means the entry hasn’t been processed – please contact us asap and we’ll investigate as we nearly always seem to have a few teams slip through our manual process. The second table in this same file shows the selection frequencies of the golfers – further comment on the frequencies is included below. The other file titled ‘USPGA Sweep Team Details‘ shows the team composition and your team number from the first table gives you an indication of how far you’ll need to scroll down the list to find your team. Please check your team details to ensure we haven’t made any entry errors as predictive text can catch us out and there are quite a few golfers in this field with the same surname – it was possible to put together a team containing three Kims, one Im, and a couple of Smiths or Hojgaards or Svenssons – no one went for that approach.

LSS – No action required right now – more later

Winning Golfer Prize– this is based on the finishing positions, and you’ll need to have included the winning golfer in your line up to have a chance.

Consolation Events – These will feature in our sweeps as it keeps the interest for everyone over the weekend. It is weekend scores only and there will be four categories depending on how many of your golfers have missed the cut. We pay to the top two except for MC4/5 where it is first only. Ties will be split.

Selection Frequencies – this can be seen in the second table of the pdf attachment. The inform Rory (and previous winner at this course) is the top pick with 72 teams selecting him. Many picked him before news of his breakup came through – Jason’s view is that divorce improves your golf whilst marriage worsens one’s game and he referenced Thomas, Spieth and Fowler …Mrs Kelly better watch out:-). Despite the very high price Scheffler was selected by 40 teams. A few teams went for the 100+ double by selecting both Mcilroy and Scheffler leaving only 79 to spend on four other golfers – we’ll see how they fair – there could be a mini league for those teams. Homa was also very popular with 61 teams putting him in and the reliable Straka was the third highest pick at 50. The field for this major is 156 and of these 41 were not included in any of the sweep teams. One of our sweep regulars Marek Lenartowicz spotted a golfer named Brad Marek way down the list (costing 2 units) and included his namesake in his team – that is one way of selecting your teams.

Prize Breakdown

We have 240 entries providing a fund of £6,000. We retain roughly 5% (£300) to cover missing payments/expenses and this will cover a small portion of the development costs for the website Jason has undertaken. This leaves £5,700 to distribute.

Full details are shown below.
1st £1,900
2nd £1,000
3rd £600
4th £400
5th £280

Winning Golfer Prize £250
LSS £250 (plus the amount (£350) carried forward from the Masters for this)

Weekend Consolation Events:
Missed Cut 1 Category 1st = £250, 2nd = £150
Missed Cut 2 Category 1st = £200, 2nd = £120
Missed Cut 3 Category 1st = £150, 2nd = Two free entries to the US Open Sweep (value £50)
Missed Cut 4 or 5 Category 1st only = £100

Hole in 1 Bonus – we are not adding to this amount from this prize fund. Note we had £500 carried forward from previous sweeps – in order to win this you needed to have participated in previous sweeps. Awarded to a team who originally selected the golfer getting an ace on Sunday (final round) – ties split by lowest team score for the final round.

Good luck to all
Regards
Ian

The PGA Championship Sweep 2024

Dear All,

I hope this email finds you well. As we gear up for the USPGA Championship Sweep this week, I wanted to inform you of some important updates regarding the entry process.

In response to the email and website difficulties experienced during the Masters Sweep, we’ve been diligently working on a solution to streamline the entry process and enhance your overall experience. The reason for this initiative stems from our utilisation of a system that is likely a decade old and was originally designed for a few dozen players. Since we take no money from the sweep, investing in infrastructure was never a priority. However, as Major Sweeps has grown, and the time demands of manual labour have increased, we feel it necessary to modernise a little.

As a result, we’re excited to announce that for the USPGA Sweep, there will (probably!) be two options available for entering:

  1. Traditional Email Entry: You can continue to enter the sweep via email, as you have done in the past.
  2. New Website Entry: We’re introducing a new method of entry through our new website. While the website is still in its absolute bare-bones state, it is expected to be operational by Tuesday. Please note that security has been our highest priority, so you can rest assured that your name and email are safe. However, we will thoroughly test the website tonight, and if we don’t believe it’s ready, we will keep it to email-only entries. We will update you on this tomorrow morning.

If all is well, once the website is live, you will be able to register and enter your teams. Additionally, you’ll have the convenience of amending and checking your entries all the way up to the closing time. You should also be able to enter your Low Score Sunday predictions through the website when that time comes.

In the future, we anticipate adding features such as mini leagues, live scoring, and player stats. However, these features may not be available for this week’s sweep. Rest assured, once you’ve registered on the website, you’ll be able to log in for all future sweeps.

Please note that we’re not yet able to process payments through the website. We hope to have this functionality in place by the US Open.

Regarding the email difficulties during the Masters Sweep, we’re still investigating the root cause. While we’ve implemented measures to track email deliveries, Ian and I would like to sincerely thank you for your understanding as we navigate through this transition period.

While we’re optimistic about the potential enhancements the website will bring to the sweep experience, we cannot guarantee a flawless experience this time around. However, with your cooperation and vigilance, we’re confident that we can overcome any challenges that may arise and deliver an excellent competition.

Thank you for your continued support and participation in Major Sweeps. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Best regards,

Jason and Ian.

If you wish to enter by email, here are the details……

If a player misses the cut or withdraws after starting, they will receive a score of ‘field average’ +3 strokes. Withdrawals before starting allow for replacements, provided the replacement hasn’t completed more than 3 holes. If no replacement is nominated, one will be made based on the initial pricing list.
  2. Entry Deadline: Entries close at 23:59 on Wednesday 15th May 2024.
  3. Entry Fee: The entry fee is £25. Upon sending your email registration with the subject ‘register’ (or ‘USPGA’), along with your 6 selections and payment, you will be entered. Confirmation emails will be sent on Thursday 16th May 2024.

Main Sweep Event

James Niknejad was very confident with his 10-shot lead going into the final day and claimed today “it’s not a R4 – it’s a victory lap”.

When I looked at the composition of the teams in the top 10 this morning there was so much variability, probably reflecting the tough pricing Jason set at the start of the week, that I thought could lead to some big moves. Scheffler’s name did feature on many near the top but, other than him, we had a full range of golfers to track.

James’ confidence was fully justified and, although the gap did get down to 6 shots at one point, he eventually extended his win to 12 shots when his team finished on 9 under – he was the only team to score under par. Impressive picking from James who has upped his game in the main event these days as he also collected a prize last year I believe – he was referred to as the LSS specialist as he collected this prize on more than one occasion in the early days.

In 2nd place at 3 over par is Chris and Mark Seal who scored 5 under for the day to move them up one place. 3rd position is taken by James Massey, who managed to get into the prizes despite having one missed cut golfer – James finished at 6 over. JK had a good final day after the disasters he had yesterday, McCarthy and Kitayama went out early but did well which pulled him back into contention. His team score was 5 under today to move him to a 7 over total. On Saturday morning he had ambitions to collect £2,600 and use it to upgrade the website; as he only picks up £650 we may not get the gold plated version he was dreaming of. We have a tie for 5th place between Carol Soutar and the day 1 leader Stuart Mackie with a sweep score of 8 over.

There are always hard luck stories and just missing out were Charles Tuchel and, once again, John Gutkin who got to 4th at once point until Aberg and Homa suffered at the start of their back nine – one day John you might time your run and collect something from these sweeps!

Scheffler was impressive over the back 9 as others faded away and just like James in the sweep there was no doubt who as going to win – Aberg found trouble at the 11th but showed resilience as he fought his way back to get close, but class told in the end – not bad for his Masters debut and surely he’ll win one of these soon. No one threatened to come through form the pack. I was chatting to Jason about it mid-round, his view was the course set up meant it was difficult to attack for risk of clocking up big numbers. It was still great viewing and whilst not a nail-biting finish, there were some great shots to watch.

Consolation Events – Note these are the team scores for all 6 golfers over the weekend.

MC1

Carol Soutar came out on top with a 1 under weekend score – however as Carol won a main prize she does not qualify for this one as well. Four teams scored 1 over at the weekend: Suzy Donaldson, Mark Josephson, Mark Doyle and Cavanaugh. We split ties by the team overall score and the respective scores were +13, +21, +22 and +25 so Suzy gets 1st place with Mark getting 2nd.

MC2

Barbara Dalton finished on 10 over with Tom Welsh on 11 over. Hard luck to 12 overs from Seth Underwood, Peter Crouch and Stuart Field.

MC3

James Weapon wins this with 17 over closely followed by Ryan Davies at 18 over. Just missing out were Dennis Holdsworth and Andy Davies – not sure if he is related to Ryan, if so, perhaps they might split it?

MC4/5

Keith Donaldson finished on +32 just pipping Mark Webber by one shot. The Donaldson team once again get some return from these sweeps as the regulars will recall Suzy had a couple of big wins last year.

Winning Golfer Prize

61 teams had Scheffler – of these only two picked the 2nd place golfer (Aberg). The team belonging to Chinese Ambassador and Chris Willmot managed this. The former team included Pavon (1 over) as his 3rd best finisher whereas Chris included Scott (4 over) so the prize goes to Chinese Ambassador. The Chinese Ambassador team just missed out in the main event but the £350 on offer here is comparable with the lower prizes in the main event. The team name of Chinese Ambassador reminded me that there were a couple of amusing team names in the list that some may have noticed – my favourite was Harry The Hammer, which I did find amusing when entering all the team details on Tuesday and Wednesday this week – some light relief when the going gets tough:-) into the early hours.

LSS

Tom Kim went out early and shot a 66 which no one equalled or bettered. We do not think anyone picked Kim so if that is the case then we’ll carry forward the £350 on offer to the PGA in May. Jason and I discussed it this eveningand there were 3 options: (a) pay to the next golfer, (b) carry it forward or (c) ‘croupiers tip’ as Jason referred to it – we decided to go for the middle option as that seemed fairer to all.

Hole in 1 Bonus

No holes in 1 yesterday – a couple came close most notably Zalatoris but we carry forward the £500 on to the USPGA next month. When the TV coverage went to Ryan Fox on 16 we wondered is this an ace? – Alas no for the Fox supporters as he dumped it in the water.

Other

We won’t go into the details again, but you’ll have been aware that we have had some technical problems with this sweep which has meant it has been very tough for us, but also not great for a few people who did not receive the updates. We will look at how we can improve things ahead of the PGA next month.  This is likely to require some investment. All we can do for now is apologise to those that were impacted and try to ensure we do not get repeat problems in future sweeps. Where people informed us they were not getting the updates we were able to send them on separately. So, please, if it does happen again let us know and we can try rectify it.

We’ll be back for the PGA Sweep in 4 weeks and hopefully we’ll see lots of you for that.

Sweep Day 4 update

Ian cheekily pointed out last night, “Surely James Niknejad can’t blow a 10-shot lead unless his team performs like yours did today.” Ouch! With my team posting +20, it turns out sometimes picking players that miss the cut might be a better strategy! It is a shame, I had already started spending my winnings a new, more automated sweep system!

James’ team, on the other hand, cruised in at +1, holding an impressive -7 total and that enviable 10-shot lead. James Massey’s team shot level par for day 3, securing second place with a 5-shot cushion over ‘Mark and Chris Seal,’ and Robert Goldsmith occupying third at +8.

Bringing up the rear, Andrew Nicolson props up the board on +75. When asked for comment yesterday regarding his ‘record breaking Masters score’ he claimed norovirus meant he hadn’t seen a shot.  A blessing in disguise, perhaps? Although, watching my team’s performance yesterday, I felt a bit queasy myself!

I had to decline a golf outing with James Niknejad this Friday. We were tied in The Masters golf later that day, and he proposed watching the final round at a pub in Ascot. It sounded fun at the time, I might have to cut the lawn instead now…..

Anyway, it has been an interesting Masters, a different Masters, and has been an accurate reflection of golf more widely this year.  Loads of top players (bar Scheffler) underperforming and less well-known, or established, players taking their chances.  The course and the weather have certainly played their part, and everything, including the course, has felt very much ‘on the edge’ so far.  This has definitely added to the tension, it has been far from relaxing viewing.  I hope they soften it up a bit today, the weather looks perfect, and if there are a few more birdies out there today it could be an incredibly exciting final round.  It would be great to see guys charging from the pack, instead of falling back into it.

As has been the theme of this Masters it looks very much in Scheffler’s hands.  If he putts ok, who can beat him?  Probably no one. It has been a long time since Morikawa has had a chance to win, posting one top 10 this season in the TOC in Hawaii, an event he blew the previous season inducing this ‘slump’. Homa doesn’t appear to have the firepower to blow this field away and may have to rely on everyone else making mistakes, as he outstays them. Aberg has consistently surprised me, but can he really win on his Masters and Major debut? History isn’t on his side. Dechambeau will be buoyed by his walk-off hole out on 18 last night, and he could be anything today, 64 or 84 wouldn’t surprise. Schauffele, Smith, and Young have all creeped back into contention but would require something extraordinary from 5 and 6 back.  My prediction, for what it is worth? Scheffler cruises to victory, unless Bryson decides to take on the course. But hey, my team did shoot +20 yesterday!

Now, let’s talk Sweep business. Don’t forget the Low Score Sunday—pick a player for the lowest Sunday round; predict his score, and guess the winning Masters tourment score for tiebreakers.  EG. Bryson Dechambeau, 58, -18 (disclaimer: not my actual entry). And let’s not overlook the £500 hole-in-one prize, with all eyes on the 16th! Just don’t be Shane Lowry. Imagine splitting the pot among 95 winners!  More logistic nightmares for an already troubled Sweep….

Here’s to an exhilarating final round of The Masters Tournament on perhaps the best weekend in sports…..

Sweep Day 2 update

Several people in contention in the sweep after day 1 will have got a shock when they saw Harman finish his first round earlier today and end up at 9 over. Harman was popular in the sweep with 51 selections. His chance of winning the Masters went with his back nine of 47, his scorecard resembled more like one I’d post. I didn’t watch any of the early coverage, but conditions must have been tough looking at the scores that came through – conditions remained very difficult throughout the day.  I found it great viewing watching some of the exploits of the world’s best fighting to make the cut. After the dust settled our sweep (subject to checks in the morning) a certain Jason Kelly is joint leader in our sweep at 8 under – he has the Scheffler + DeChambeau in his team along with Fitzpatrick, Schenk, McCarthy and Kitayama. Level with JK is the former LSS specialist James Niknejad (Scheffler, Schauffele, Fleetwood, Moore, Glover, Davis). In 3rd is the overnight leader Stuart Mackie, but he is now 6 shots behind. Ben Jones occupies 4th at level par and in 5th we have a three-way tie between Chinese Ambassador, Robert Goldsmith and Charles Tuchel with a score of 1 over.  Only Charles of the teams in the prizes has a missed cut golfer so will do well to hang on to a prize place.  (I will make sure Charles gets his first email of the week all the same – JK)

Now on to some points about how the weekend pans out within the sweep and the other prizes we have on offer – even if you’ve had a bad couple of days there are still plenty to be won, as outlined later.

The cut was made at 6 over. The late doubles from Matsuyama and Thomas moved it from 5 to 6 and increased the field playing at the weekend to 60, from 50. We always have some big names missing out and the list this time includes DJ, Viktor, Jordan and Wyndham, to highlight just a few. The move from 5 to 6 over also brings a lot more teams into contention in the sweep as many more have a full contingent taking part at the weekend.

The sweep score for golfers missing the cut is calculated as field average + 3 for both the final rounds.

63 teams have all 6 golfers making the cut – all of these have a great chance of winning the main prize. All teams still qualify for the main event so teams with 1 or 2 missed cut golfers can get into the prize places, but history tells us that most of the prize places will be filled with teams having all 6 golfers making the cut. To retain the interest in the sweep for teams with 1,2,3,4 and 5 missed cut golfers we introduced the four consolation events (MC1, MC2, MC3 and MC4or5) where it is the weekend only scores that count for the team, so everyone in each category is starting from the same point. An example might make this easier as this hasn’t always been clear: Using Tom Welsh’s team, which I’m sure he thought looked so good on paper on Thursday morning, (Rahm, Aberg, Zalatoris, Im, Rose, Bradley) it falls into the MC2 category as Im and Rose have missed the cut. Assuming the sweep round 3 score for missing the cut is +4 (field average +3) and Rahm, Aberg, Zalatoris and Bradley score a combined 10 under Tom’s score for round 3 is 2 under (+4+4-10). Repeating this for round 4 and assuming the total comes to 5 under Tom’s weekend team score is 7 under. The prize is won by the team with the lowest team weekend score. Ties will be split according to the overall team score for all 4 rounds – if this is still equal then we’ll look at the final round team score and work backwards for each round team score. A team cannot win both a Consolation Prize and a Main Prize so they will take the highest value prize should they end up being eligible for both.

The number of teams in each of the Consolation events along with the prize pay-outs is:

MC1 – 156 teams (1st £320 2nd £180)

MC2 – 89 teams (1st £250, 2nd £150)

MC3 – 35 teams (1st £200, 2nd £110)

MC4or5 – 4 teams (1st £150)

LSS (Low Score Sunday). Now we know who is competing at the weekend start to think about this. We need a prediction of who will shoot the lowest round on Sunday, what this lowest score will be and also what you think the winning score in the Masters will be. The scores are used for splitting any ties. Example (and just to be clear this is not my on submission) Conners, 63, 16 under. Please email Jason with these with the title LSS – remember you have one go per team entered, and with £350 on offer why not have a go? Given all the email issues we’ve had maybe also copy me in as well. It might be advisable to wait until Round 3 is complete as you’ll have a better sense of who did well in R3 well and what the likely winning score will be.

Winning Golfer Prize – this is paid to one team. How this works is we identify all teams that selected the winning golfer. If there is more than one team, we look to see which of these also selected the 2nd place golfer – again if there is more than 1 team containing 1st and 2nd we look to see which team has the next highest placed golfer – we continue with this until we are left with just one team. This prize is a proxy for the most Masters prize money the team wins. This prize is paid to someone outside the Main Prizes unless their Main Prize is worth less than the £350 we have on offer for the Winning Golfer Prize.

Sunday Hole in 1 Bonus – £500 available but you must have been a sweep regular, as this is the period when this fund accumulated, for debutants to the Sweep the pot is £250. Paid to a team with the golfer getting an Ace on Sunday (final round). Ties split by team score for the final round only.

You’ll all be pleased to hear JK will provide the write up tomorrow so it should be an entertaining insight into the golf and the sweep (no pressure Jason) provided he can forget about of the website/email issues we’ve faced throughout the duration of this sweep. He won’t need to worry about the sweep prize mechanics as I’ve bored you all with that in today’s update. He may have to explain his own team’s fall from grace as he’s been teed up nicely with a strong performance in the first couple of rounds from his team 2 – he probably needs a win to give him the encouragement to keep on running these sweeps with all the technical issues he’s faced.

Sweep Update Day 1

A colleague of Jason’s (and a recent winner of one of the sweeps) asked him today why we do this? If the answer is we like resolving issues we’ve had a very rewarding day! Jason was all lined up to sit back watch the early golf coverage with the only interruption being switching over to watch the races from Aintree…but ended up trying to load the sweep information to his website and having to call his team in India for assistance. We encountered a few email issues where entries hadn’t been received by either Jason or myself even though they looked like they had been sent by participants. On that note please check that your team is included in the sweep as early identification of issues means we have a chance of resolving them. A further 11 teams were added to the published starting list where we had either missed them or they came in after our cut off for publishing the initial information. The additional £275 has been added to the main prizes making the payouts:
1st £2,600
2nd £1,300
3rd £900
4th £650
5th £440
6th £300
Further checks will be undertaken tomorrow and hopefully we’ll have a quieter day within our sweep. The payments will be reconciled so if you forgot to make any payments please do so asap to save us chasing. The sweep entry fee was increased to £25 per team so if you hadn’t noticed this increase and only paid £20 please pay the extra £5 per team.  A sweep leaderboard is attached in the pdf showing the scores when play stopped this evening. I’ll let those in contention have a nice surprise when they open it and see their name near the top. For others having to search lower down our list there is still a long way to go and there will be the consolation events starting in Round 3 based on how many missed cut golfers you have where everyone in the respective missed cut categories starts equal since it is the weekend only scores for your team. Not the big money to win in these consolation events but the prizes are still worth having. In the history of running these sweeps all winners in the main event have teams where all 6 golfers make the cut so you need to hope all your men make the cut.
One of our other issues we’ve had in this sweep is with our own email distribution where some of the batches didn’t send out to everyone – this has happened with the initial invitation but also repeated with the entry details email Jason sent Thursday morning. We can only apologise to those impacted by some of our issues this week and it highlights the need to automate parts of the process to make it easier for us and smoother for all.
The bad weather caused the later start and meant not everyone completed their rounds. Conditions did appear to get tough with the wind getting up during the afternoon into the evening. Scheffler looks ominous but had a very lucky break at the 13th. Bryson played well in the earlier part of the day and he was only included in 15 of the sweep teams. Willett only cost 13 units and this is clearly where the value in our sweep lies at the moment – only 5 teams identified the value on offer. At the other end Matsuyama was a high-frequency selection (62 teams) but struggled and Meronk, included in one of JK’s teams, will do very well to make the cut – nothing like putting the boot into someone after they’ve had a tough day but I’m sure JK will be very happy when he opens up the sweep list to see how his other team, where he didn’t include Meronk, is performing. At the start I mentioned reasons for doing this and I’m sure if JK stays up there and wins he can give his colleague 2,600 reasons why he does it!
