Golf Betting Tips

Northern Trust Open and Africa Open

Sorry to be brief again for the second week in a row. I am in Vegas so, I am sure you can appreciate, time is precious! Kevin Stadler got a place for us last week which meant a profit of 8 pts for the week. A step in the right direction.

The Northern Trust is played at Riviera for the 50th time this week. This course is tight and has small greens. Distance from the tee, fairways hit and greens in regulation stats break down low. Scrambling always ranks relatively easy. All in, ball strikers do well. Especially ball strikers who can shape it.

Kevin Stadler gets picked again. He ranks 1st in total driving, 19th in greens in regulation, 5th in scoring and finished 11th in Phoenix and 3rd last week at the AT&T. He has finished in the top 25 in his last 3 Riviera starts including a 10th in 2010. There is still some good value in the 70/1 on offer.

Bubba Watson leads greens in regulation every year on the PGA Tour yet he is only known for his length. He has three top 20’s at Riviera including a 13th last year when he lead total driving. His two starts this year have finished with a 4th and a 15th. 25/1 is fair and worth a play.

Jimmy Walker looks short at 33/1 but consider he has two top 4’s in his last 3 starts, including 3rd last week. He finished 4th at Riviera in 2011 and 2012. He ranks 6th in scoring this year. 33/1 looks a bit better now and worth a follow.

Brendon De Jonge finished 10th here in 2009 and ranks 14th in greens and 8th in total driving this year. He fits the profile nicely and can go well at 80/1. (90/1 with BetVictor)

The Africa Open is another diabolical event in ‘Europe’ and I have zero interest in making a play in the event, let alone have to sit down and watch it.

My advice comes with a point system to rate the strength of a tip. A 1 point bet means placing your usual stake, so if you would consider your normal bet being £10 then a point signifies £10.
