Players Championship, Sawgrass

I played a 4 day pro am here last year and finished 2nd..... it is a straight drivers course, a greens in regulation course or someone who is just an unbelievable scrambler. Playuers with experience here do well. From the past winners it has taken an average of 7.5 starts before they have won.

I am chasing a bit now. Kuchar MC'd last week, Mickelson was win only and finished a good 2nd to an unreal Mcilroy and Villegas flattered early to decive later. We are now -45.75 pts.

This week Mickelson makes a lot of appeal. However, he has been available to back at between 16-20/1 most the season so why take the 9/1 now on a guy that hardly hits a fairway. Woods is more tempting at 9/1, a lot of people will kick themselves for not taking a huge price about world no.1 if he wins on Sunday. But I can't blame them for not taking it. He was not on the golf course last week, he hit it in the water 5 times on the back nine in practice yesterday so he is still very difficult to back, despite the price. 178th in driving accuracy, 185th in total driving, 130th in greens in reg.... it would be a performance of epic note if he could turn his form around that quick. He can do it but I will pass.

Players with great long games who are capable of winning a tournament of this size. I like KJ Choi and Nick Watney. Both having good seasons and have the stats and price to make them backable here.

Ponte Vedra residents notoriously do well here. Furyk and Singh stand out. Singh is rank out of form and suffering with injuries and Furyk is a stingy price at 20/1. Garcia has a great record here as does Ames, but neither of them are playing well enough.

I have to put Matt Kuchar in again, I am not sure the course suits but his stats are still too good to ignore, he MC'd last week but a result must be close soon...... keep the faith @ 80/1.

Finally two at nice prices. Contary to what I said earlier. lets have a go with the long and wild Bubba Watson. He has the potential to be exceptional, I watched him here last year and thouught if this boy could putt he would be untouchable. He is putting better this year. Go with him at 110/1.

Finally Alex Prugh is having a great rookie season. He has the game to spring a surprise here and is massively overpriced at 300/1.

Players Champs:

Choi 1.5pts ew @ 50/1
Watney 1pt each way @ 60/1
Kuchar 1pt each way @ 80/1
Watson. B 0.5pts ew @ 110/1
Prugh 0.5 pts ew @ 300/1
