Quail Hollow

The Verizon Heritage at Harbour Town looked promising when KJ Choi led after round 1.... it all went down hill from there leaving us with another 10pt deficit. Yearly total a disappointing -37.75pts. So on to this weeks Quail Hollow Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Quail Hollow Championship is to The Players what the Shell Houston Open is to The Masters. Although both are great events played on great courses, they are essentially warm ups for the following week. However this week's field is stronger than that of the Shell Houston Open. The 7,400 yard par 72 course presents a tough challenge. It is a tight, tree lined course that demands accuracy and patience. The severe rough that was a feature a couple of years ago has been reduced and the greens firmed up as a response.

Anthony Kim is a past winner and would be a selection if he had not chased the cash to Korea last week. First up is Masters Champion Phil Mickelson. He must be full of confidence and with Woods back in the field represents good value at 10/1.

Next up is Columbian Camillo Villegas. He has been quiet for a few weeks but this course should suit him, T5 in The Verizon Heritage shows that he is in good form. Take the 33/1.

Every week I tip Matt Kuchar and he keeps getting close without truly rewarding us. He is now ranked 1 in all round ranking so should not be ignored at 55/1.

Yes, I am going to ignore Tiger this week. You could back him at 7/1at the Masters and now only 11/4 here. He looked out of control at Augusta so 11/4 seems very short.

Quail Hollow Championship:

Phil Mickelson 2pt win 10/1
Camillo Villegas 2 pts ew 33/1
Matt Kuchar 1pt ew 55/1
