Abu Dhabi Championship and Farmers Insurance Open

Last week was close. Goosen lost in a playoff and I would have loved to have backed him each way but it would have messed up the staking plan. It also cost us our double as Els tied with Goosen. In The States we were not close again. De Jonge fired in an eight under final round to finish 12th but the blood pressure never really rose.

This week I am halfway through a tournament in Spain so no preview, just picks.

Farmers Insurance.

Greens are normally bad at Torrey Pines so ball striking is rewarded. Also long hitters have a great record, The South is the longest course on tour.

Pick: Nick Watney 16/1

Abu Dhabi Championship

Kaymer has an unreal record in this event, winning 3 of the last 4, Casey is the other winner during this spell but does not play. Course is long and Mcilroy has an improving form record and will be out to impress as he is paired with Woods and Donald. This course is long and rewards a good driver of the ball. 7/1 is fair. Schwartzel’s ball striking has to be respected and he is just a few putts away from playing great, good record here. Colsaerts is bang in form and will appreciate this lay out. Opening 63 last week was world class. Will want to make amends for last weeks disappointment when looking the most likely winner all week.

Picks:
Mcilroy 7/1
Schwartzel 30/1
Colsaerts 66/1
