Transitions Championship

Wow, last week was frustrating. Two weeks ago I tipped Allenby and Els in the Honda Classic, the following week they finish 1st and 3rd..... nice timing! Casey missed out on a place by a shot last week finishing 6th, more disappointment! However, 100/1 chance Kuchar saved the day finishing 3rd and returning place odds of 25/1 giving us a 5.5pt profit on the week and bringing the yearly tally to +1.5pts.

After a hectic 6 tournaments in 4 weeks on the US Tour things slow down a bit with just 1 event in Florida. An good field is assembled and there are also a few players trying to claim their place at Augusta. The European Tour is in Morocco and there are no star players present. I am going to leave Morocco alone. I would have liked to have made a play on the in form Willett, the long course will suit and he is overdue a debut win. I also like Alex Noren there, even with a few injuries, again a long hitter and one of the highest ranked but both are too short as there is no strength in the field. They are best priced 25/1 and 22/1 respectively. Actually, I am going to stick with Willett.... he can definitely get in the mix again here.

Sricker heads the betting in the Transitions Championship. He finished 4th and made the most birdies here last year in what is a high scoring event. The course has 5 par 3's and is a par 71. Mark Calcavecchia is the only player to get in to double figures under par in this event. Sticker is 4th in birdies per round and 3rd in scoring average on the PGA Tour this year. He has shot over par once in 2010! He does seem a little short at 14/1 but with these stats and his form I think he has to be a pick.

The second player I am going to put forward is a veteran at a tasty price. Steve Elkington finished 7th last week in Puerto Rico. He is ranked 5th in driving accuracy, 8th in greens in regulation and 4th in putting. Back Elkington at a tasty 150/1.

Here they are:

1pt ew Danny Willett @ 25/1 Moroccan Open

2pt win Steve Stricker @ 14/1 Transitions Championship

1pt ew Steve Elkington @ 150/1 Transitions Championship
