Golf Betting Tips

Perth International and Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

With no big tournaments this week I am just going to give the picks.

Last week we made a 4.88 point profit thanks to the continued excellence of Hideki Matsuyama. His birdie, birdie, birdie finish earned him a place and won us 7.88 points. Ben Martin had a good week but bogies on both the par 5’s on the back 9 on Sunday cost him a place. Brandon Stone missed the cut in Portugal. We are still ahead with him, despite a fruitless period, and despite the recent disappointments I still think he is worth persevering with at huge prices.

Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

1.5 points each way Hideki Matsuyama @ 25/1 (Non- Runner) - The top of this market is full of players you can make great arguments for. Zach Johnson is perhaps the hottest player around and a very worthy favourite, Nick Watney looks back to his best and has a great record here, Webb Simpson finished 4th last time he played here and 4th last time out, Graham Delaet has made a giant leap in the last 6 months from obscurity to a prominent contender as he proved with another strong showing in the Presidents Cup, Moore defends and has his game in good shape, Jimmy Walker finally won last week and Kevin Na closed with a pair of 64’s last week. But Matsuyama is the one I want to be on again. 25/1 for a guy with the form, consistency, obvious ability and relentless bravery of Matsuyama appears to be worth a play again.

0.75 points each way Ben Martin @ 100/1 (-1.5 points) - Got in the mix last week so clearly playing well. His all round game is in good shape and that will have been a nice taster / confidence booster for him.

0.25 points each way James Driscoll to be first round leader @ 150/1 (+9.13 points) - Scoring goes low here and he is a great putter. Ranked 7th last year in that stat. He opened with a 66 here in 2010 and finished 15th in 2008 with three rounds in the mid sixties. Last week he closed with rounds of 67-65-69 to finish 21st. If the putter stays warm and with his confidence up he may spring a surprise in round one. I considered Justin Hicks (150/1) and Will Mackenzie for the same market but Hicks maybe does not putt well enough and Mackenzie was too short at 80/1.

Perth International

0.5 points each way Brandon Stone @ 200/1 (-1 point) - Sticking with the young South African. This may be more the environment he is used to. The warm weather in Perth and faster conditions may remind him of home or Texas where he went to College. It is very trappy at the top of the market. Rumford had some appeal at 25’s but has a poor record on the course and Havret at 50/1 could go well but nothing really stands out. Stone needs a big week so therefore he is the selection.

2013 running total = -3.86 points. This week’s investment 6 points. This weeks P&L = +6.63 points

2012 total +150.36 points
2011 total +370.78 points
2010 total +189.33 points

My advice comes with a point system to rate the strength of a tip. A 1 point bet means placing your usual stake, so if you would consider your normal bet being £10 then a point signifies £10.
